FASPS Faculty at NAIS 2024 PoCC

This year, several FASPS faculty members attended the NAIS 2024 People of Color Conference (PoCC) in Denver, Colorado. The conference provided an incredible opportunity for professional growth and collaboration, with a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion in education.

The PoCC featured dynamic keynote speakers who shared messages of inclusion, self- compassion, and allyship. Faculty members participated in numerous workshops that ranged from deep dives into culturally responsive teaching to strategies for supporting students from diverse backgrounds. These sessions offered actionable insights that faculty can bring back to our classrooms to foster a more inclusive atmosphere for all students.

The conference was also a chance for our faculty to connect with educators from around the country. These conversations allowed them to share ideas, learn from one another, and bring back fresh perspectives that will benefit both our school community and our teaching practices.
The PoCC also highlighted the importance of student voice and empowerment in the work of diversity and inclusion. Many workshops focused on how educators can give students the tools to advocate for themselves and their peers, creating stronger, more supportive communities both inside and outside the classroom.

Our faculty members look forward to returning from the conference energized and excited to implement new strategies that will help further enhance the inclusive and welcoming environment at FASPS. We're looking forward to seeing the impact of their learning as they continue to inspire our students and each other.
