A Safe and Healthy Campus

At FASPS, families are essential partners in ensuring a safe and healthy campus. The most important safety practice is keeping a students home when they are ill. We aim to collaborate with families to ensure students follow safety protocols both at school and at home. Occasionally, we may request that families adhere to additional safety measures, and we sincerely appreciate your cooperation. We are here to support families in addressing any concerns.

Community Responsibilities

Every member of the FASPS community has a shared responsibility to help prevent the spread of illnesses, especially when they know or suspect they have a communicable disease. Everyone in our school community must stay committed to the safety policies and procedures detailed in our communications. These efforts are vital in protecting the health and well-being of our students, faculty, and staff. Our combined dedication is key to maintaining a safe environment for all.

COVID-19 Guidance

List of 5 frequently asked questions.

  • Testing Positive

A mandatory isolation period is no longer required when testing positive. If your test results are positive, follow the requirements below:

While previous COVID-19 guidance recommended people isolate for at least 5 full days after symptoms appeared, the new guidance recommends that people who have COVID-19 or another respiratory virus may return to normal activities when both of the following have been true for at least 24 hours:
    • their symptoms are getting better overall, and...
    • they have not had a fever (without having to use fever-reducing medication).
When people return to normal activities, for 5 days, they should wear a mask and take additional precautions such as taking steps to improve airflow and filtration, practicing good hand hygiene, cleaning regularly, physically distancing, and testing if accessible when they will be around others indoors.

Students younger than two, who cannot mask, may consider five days of isolation or testing negative before returning to school to help mitigate risks.
  • Masking

Masking is not required at FASPS.

Wearing a well-fitting mask consistently and correctly reduces the risk of spreading the virus that causes COVID-19.

All students and employees should consider wearing a mask during the 5 days after isolation period to help prevent further transmission.
  • Notification

Parents must email FASPS’s Covid Team whenever their student tests positive for COVID-19.

FASPS will continue to inform families when there are cases or outbreaks at school via the Friday Flash or direct email notifications.
  • Testing After A Positive Result

All students and employees who are or have been exposed, regardless of vaccination status, should test every 24–48 hours for five days following exposure.

Immunization Requirements

List of 5 frequently asked questions.

  • Washington State Law

According to the Washington Administrative Code WAC 246-105-030 and WAC 246-105-040 any child attending school, preschool, or childcare in Washington State is required by law to be fully immunized (documentation of vaccination or proof of acquired immunity). These requirements are put into place to protect children, families, and communities from vaccine preventable diseases. The parent or guardian of a child must provide documentation of vaccination or proof of immunity to specific diseases. This requirement is based on the national Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) Immunization Schedule for school or childcare registration and attendance.
  • Requirements for School/Childcare Attendance

The attendance of every child at every public and private school in the state and licensed day care center shall be conditioned upon the presentation before or on each child's first day of attendance at a particular school or center, of proof of either:
    • full immunization
    • the initiation of and compliance with a schedule of immunization, as required by rules of the state board of health
    • a certificate of exemption as provided for in RCW 28A.210.090
  • Exclusions and Conditional Status

Children who do not meet state vaccination requirements may not attend school or childcare. Schools and childcares must exclude children who do not provide paperwork showing their child has met the vaccination requirements.

Children who need to catch up on vaccination requirements may stay in school under ‘conditional status.’ To be in conditional status, families must:
    • Get their child vaccinated for all eligible missing vaccines
    • Turn in required paperwork showing the vaccinations their child has received
    • Have a parent or guardian?sign the conditional status box on the CIS (Certificate of Immunization Status) form
  • Additional Information

Because some vaccines are given in a series over time, children may have a waiting period until they can receive their next vaccination. Families have 30 days from the next vaccine due date to get their child vaccinated. Families must then turn in paperwork showing proof. This process continues until the child is caught up on vaccinations. If a family does not follow up on a required vaccination, their child will lose conditional status and will be excluded from school.
