What’s Garderie? – Garderie is FASPS’ after-school care program offered to students in TYPK – Grade 5. There is no organized program or activity for Garderie, but rather it is structured free time. Students play outside, play with toys, play board games, and color or do small craft projects. Parents can pick up their students registered in Garderie any time between the end of the school day and 6:00 pm. Students picked up after 6:00 pm will be charged a late fee according to the table below.  

 

 

All Garderie options are offered beginning the first day of school (September 6, 2023) and running through and including the last day of school (June 12, 2024).  

 

Morning Garderie operates from 7:30 am until students are welcomed to their classrooms (8:00 am for K-5, 8:15am for TYPK, YPK & PK). Registration is strongly encouraged for Morning Garderie, but we can occasionally accept drop-ins if given notice as early as possible.  

 

Any child dropped off prior to 8:00 am for K-5 or 8:15 am for TYPK, YPK & PK will be subject to a drop-in Morning Garderie fee.  

 

Afternoon Garderie operates from 3:30 pm and runs until 6:00 pm. A snack is provided by the school for all Garderie participants, and we do our very best to meet dietary restrictions/allergies wherever possible.  

 

Students will be divided into Garderie groups by age/class group, but students will be regrouped by Preschool / Lower School for outside play during Garderie.

Registration for Yearlong Garderie Plus is only possible during the registration window from August 10 – September 1, and is not cancelable and is non-transferrable after processing.  

 

Students Grades PK – Gr. 5 can be enrolled in Yearlong Garderie Plus and also sign up for enrichment classes! Students enrolled in yearlong Garderie Plus will be given a code to apply at registration and $100 of fees paid for Yearlong Garderie Plus will be transferred towards Enrichment class fees per class taken. 

 

 

The best price-per-hour on Garderie service, but registration is for 5 days a week for all year whether or not you use it. Limited spots are available for this package, best for families that will use Garderie regularly. If you do not anticipate needing Garderie often, please consider not signing your child up for Yearlong Garderie as this will take a valuable spot away from someone else who might need it regularly.

Each trimester, we have some spaces for children to register in Garderie on a more as-needed basis. By registering for the trimester, you are registering for specific days of Garderie use for the duration of the trimester. Ie: registration for Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays of the Fall Trimester.  

As the registration is done by trimester, you will need to renew your registration for the new trimester (Winter or Spring).  

 

This is a good option for families whose after-school needs change from trimester to trimester, or for families who want to match Garderie care with Enrichment classes that will change from trimester to trimester.  

 

 

Pending availability, we can accept students for Garderie on an as-needed basis as drop-in users. This is the most expensive way to pay for Garderie, but if you are in a pinch, it may be your best choice! To make use of drop-in Garderie, please email all requests to Garderie@fasps.org. The team will reply to you ASAP to confirm whether or not we have space to accommodate your child. For same-day afternoon requests, please email by 1:30 pm at the latest. For emergency requests with no notice, please call the front desk.

Four by Four (4x4), or “quatre quatre (cat cat)” as it has come to be known in French, is our Middle School Extended Day Program, which offers four options for Middle School students, all beginning at 4:00 pm.  

 

Registration in Atelier allows your Middle School student access to the basic after-school program, which includes both homework support, where students can work on schoolwork and receive help from a native French speaker, and Récréation, which is the opportunity for students to play games, go outside, and have social time with friends.  

 

Yearlong Atelier is offered much like Yearlong Garderie. Please see the description for Yearlong Garderie for all terms and conditions applicable to Yearlong Atelier. Yearlong Garderie Plus is not an option for Middle School aged students because Break Camps and care on PTC days is not offered to Middle School students.  

 

Middle School Clubs are offered most days from 4:00-5:00 pm and are led by Middle School faculty or external vendors. Students can sign up for Clubs even if they are not registered in 4x4. Students enrolled in yearlong Atelier will be given a code to apply at registration and $100.00 of yearlong fees will be transferred towards club fees for each club a student is signed up for.  

 

The fourth option for 4x4 is Athletics, but that’s an entirely separate subject that will have its own communications.  

 

 

All 4x4 activities will start at 4:00 pm. Clubs will end at 5:00 pm, and students who participate in clubs are still eligible to take the 5:00 pm bus. Parents have a 15-minute grace period to pick students up after the end of a club unless students are registered in 4x4 after activities.  

 

At 5:00 pm, Atelier will end, and all students who stay from 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm will be moved to Récréation which may be combined with Lower School Garderie depending on staffing.  

 

There is no Garderie service on national holidays, in-service faculty days, parent-teacher conference days, or during Thanksgiving or December break. Garderie Break Camps will be offered for students in TYPK-Gr 5 during the following breaks: 

(No camp/garderie on Monday, February 20 in observance of President’s Day, No Camp Monday, Feb 26, 2024, due to Faculty In-Service)  

(No Camp Tuesday, April 16, 2024, due to Faculty In-Service) 

 

Registration for Break Camp will be announced at least 1 month prior to the break. If your child is registered for Yearlong Garderie Plus, they are AUTOMATICALLY registered for these three break camps.

  

Parent Teacher Conference days will be November 1-2, 2023, January 31-February 1, 2024, and June 13-14, 2024. While the organization of these Parent Teacher Conference days remains to be confirmed, we will offer limited Garderie on these days to the students who do not have class. Registration in advance will be required. More information will be provided closer to Conference days. 

 

If your child is registered in Yearlong Garderie Plus, they are AUTOMATICALLY registered for the necessary Garderie during the November conference days as well as the January-February conference days.  

 

Registration for all grades in Extended Day Programs must be done during the registration period using the online portal here. As always, Extended Day registration is on a first-come, first-served basis, and we will move to a waitlist as soon as a class has reached capacity. Due to space constraints, staffing constraints, and legal group size maximums, we are not able to guarantee services will be available for all students. If getting access to Garderie/4x4 is a non-negotiable for your family, please register promptly when registration opens. 

 

The Registration window for Yearlong and Fall Trimester Garderie and Extended Day Classes for all students TYPK – Grade 8 will be open from Thursday, August 10 at 7:00 am through Friday, September 1, 2023, at 6:00 pm.  

 

Late registrations may be considered as space allows on a case-by-case basis. After September 1, 2023, we will not be able to accept any registrations for Yearlong Garderie or Middle School 4x4 options. Families requiring care every day after September 1st will need to register for Garderie/Middle School 4x4 each trimester as space permits.
